Nelson Mandela and thoughts for the weekend

My coaching work focuses on helping people to unfold their inner selves without placing  judgement on their hopes and ambitions, or offering my critical opinion of what they desire to achieve.

No coaching plan is put into place until they are content with the goal they have in mind and how they will feel when success is theirs. In the run up to this, reasons, excuses, sabotage mechanisms and avoidances arrive to spoil the outcome.

One of the most common avoidances is about being successful. It comes in the guise of making us concentrate on failure, but in digging a little deeper you will find that success carries a fear with it of not being liked.  Of course, if you are successful and grow a monstrous ego, then don’t expect to have true friends but it is possible to have and be both successful and loveable.

These words from Nelson Mandela express beautifully how to give ourselves permission to be the best we can be.

Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves  “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?”

Actually, who are you not to be?shutterstock_3329460

You are a child of God: your playing small doesn’t serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were born to manifest the glory of God within us.

It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone, and as we let our own light shine,we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatially liberates others.
